H. Moser & Cie

Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Lime Green CHF 20 000

DETAILS

Launched in 2022, this reference is one of the most remarkable releases from the Swiss brand, whose annals are approaching the bicentenary mark. The long history of a watchmaking company fits very well with the traditional decoration techniques that are produced by hand. The present Endeavor Center Seconds Concept Lime Green features two important handcrafted techniques: a translucent colored fire enamel and a textured dial.

First, according to the brand, three pigments are used for the enamel layer, which not only creates the characteristic lime green hue, but also a color gradient with a bright, clear green tone in the center of the dial and a darker, muted tone closer to the edge of the dial. In addition, the transition between the tones is smooth. The color gradient of the dial, which H. Moser & Cie. refers to as fumé (smoky), is currently perceived as one of the signs of the company's style, which was established in the collection in the 2010s after the brand became the property of Melb Holding, its current owner. The fumé enamel dial first appeared on the 2021 Heritage Perpetual Calendar Midnight Blue Enamel in an opaque, dark blue version with a gradient to black.

REASONS TO BUY

A unique combination of classic Endeavor design with spectacular and unusual decorative features and high-quality workmanship characterize the present H. Moser & Cie. Endeavor Center Seconds Concept Lime Green Ref. 1200-1233 watch. The appeal of this watch lies above all in the use of two rarely combined decorative techniques, both of which require a high degree of craftsmanship – translucent enamel with a fumé effect and chaotic fine hammering that creates a naturalistic texture. The number of pieces produced was small, as these techniques do not allow for large production quantities. Furthermore, each timepiece is indeed unique, which certainly contributes to the perceived value of this watch.

ABOUT THIS WATCH

On the dial of the Endeavor Center Seconds Concept Lime Green, we find another application of the enamel technique that should be called flinqué enamel, which means that a metal base with a relief surface is visible through a colored, translucent enamel layer that creates a distinctive play of light with small waves. This is the second important decorative technique used on this watch. In the classic flinqué technique, the relief is created by guilloché. In this watch, however, the enamel is applied to a gold dial with a relief created by hand through careful fine hammering, eliminating repetitive structures in favor of a chaotic, natural texture. The result is a textured enamel fumé dial that is quite unique in modern watchmaking. According to H. Moser &Cie, each dial is fired up to a dozen times to achieve the desired result. The freehand hammered surface makes each dial and therefore each watch unique.

The Endeavor Concept Lime Green is part of the H. Moser & Cie. Concept line. This means that the dial has no hour markings, inscriptions and – perhaps surprisingly – no logo.

The 3-day going HMC 200 caliber in this watch is a simple three-hand self-winding movement from H. Moser & Cie. It is beautifully finished, with beveled bridges that feature extra-wide double Côtes de Genève stripes – the so-called ‘Moser stripes’ or ‘Côtes de Moser’ that are a specialty of H. Moser & Cie., the engraved and gold-plated brand logo and the traditional coat of arms, and an openworked solid gold rotor engraved with the H. Moser & Cie. logo. A special feature of this model is the V-shaped balance bridge in the Lepine style with a dark blue coating. It is worth noting that the HMC 200 caliber has a double hairspring, an extremely rare feature for a wristwatch without complications, which adds to the collector's value of this timepiece.
